[ARCHIVED] Halloween in The Village Event

ARROYO GRANDE, CA - On Wednesday, October 31, 2018, the Arroyo Grande Village Improvement Association will be coordinating what has become a traditional Halloween event for young children. From 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, interested merchants in the Village will be able to participate in “Halloween in the Village” during which candy and treats will be distributed to young children.

Because the event has become increasingly popular, with large crowds of young children and their parents on the sidewalks and streets in the Village, the City of Arroyo Grande will be implementing special traffic control measures on Halloween. No parking will be allowed on E. Branch Street from Traffic Way to Mason Street between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 31, 2018.

E. Branch Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. The intersections and major driveways on E. Branch Street including Bridge Street north of Olohan Alley, Short Street, the Car Corral, and Nevada Street will also be closed to vehicle traffic during the same hours on the same date. The closures will be “hard” closures reinforced with barricades. The reason for the no parking zones and the street and driveway closures is to help ensure the safety of the excited children who will be walking throughout the Village dressed in their Halloween costumes.

The detour route around the Village from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm will be Traffic Way, Nelson Street and Mason Street.

If you are driving on Halloween night, not just in the area of the Village, but in any neighborhood, please use extra caution and be aware of the trick-or-treaters walking through our neighborhoods. If we all work together, Halloween can be a safe event for our community.
