[ARCHIVED] Friday Closures at Arroyo Grande City Hall

ARROYO GRANDE, CALIFORNIA – City of Arroyo Grande City Hall will begin closing to the public every Friday starting July 6th due to budget constraints.  Operations and other public services will remain open.

On June 12, 2018, the City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2018-20 Budget which includes staffing reductions in several City Departments. The City is continuing to balance its budget with many strategies including Friday closures at City Hall to aid staff in completing job duties. During the Friday closures, City Hall employees will still be at work to get the public’s work done.

“Allowing staff to have focused time to work on projects will result in greater productivity and ultimately allow us to provide high quality services to the residents and visitors of Arroyo Grande, even with a reduced number of staff,” said City Manager, Jim Bergman.

Customers are asked to schedule their in-person business on other weekdays, and when possible to utilize online services at www.arroyogrande.org.

Arroyo Grande is not the first to adjust its schedule. Other cities within San Luis Obispo County and the City of Santa Maria have modified office hours.

Friday closures will take effect on July 6, 2018 and will not affect the Police Department, Recreation Services, or Public Works Departments. City Hall hours will be Monday through Thursday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  City Hall will remain open on Friday, August 10, 2018 for election related services only. A notice will be posted at City Hall and added to the City’s website and social media sites.
