2018 Summer Activities - Youth

ARROYO GRANDE, CA - The City of Arroyo Grande’s Recreation Services Department announces the new Summer Activities Guide for 2018. Registration is now open for summer classes and camps.

“The City of Arroyo Grande offers a ‘Summer of Fun’ with classes and camps to keep kids, teens and active adults busy all summer long,” says Karen Beaudin, Volunteer & Program Coordinator for the Recreation Services Department. She continues, “We offer a diverse schedule of classes and camps to offer an enriching yet fun experience to our residents.”

New this summer for youth, the City of Arroyo Grande has partnered with Sciensational; a nationwide STEM camp to offer various science, technology, engineering, and mathematics-based camps to kid’s ages 7-12 years old. For the sports enthusiast, the Arroyo Grande Youth Sports Camp will introduce kids to two different sports daily in this fun and active day camp. For the little dancer in the house, dance instructor Shelby Solis will get kids ages 5-8 moving in, “Move 2 Groove” dance classes at the Woman’s Club Community Center.

Also at the Woman’s Club Community Center, for the first-time the City of Arroyo Grande will be launching a Chess Club for adults. This meet up and play style chess club will be hosted by the City of Arroyo Grande Recreation staff and offers local chess enthusiast the time and space to meet up and enjoy one of the world’s oldest games while making new friends. From one of the world’s oldest games to a new up and coming game – Knockerball Soccer is coming to Arroyo Grande. Adults and teens can join in on this physical sport which involves participants playing soccer in an oversized inflatable sphere ball. Players may find themselves laughing so hard it’s difficult to stay on their feet long enough to score a goal!

More information on all classes offered by the City of Arroyo Grande Recreation Services Department can be found in the Summer Activity Guide which can be picked up at the Elm Street Park Offices or online at www.ArroyoGrande.org/Activities.  Registration opened on April 9, 2018 and runs through July for most activities.
