CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE RECREATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT'S 

ADULT CLASSES FOR FALL 2017

 

The City of Arroyo Grande Recreation Services Department is offering a variety of classes for youth now through January 2018. For more specific class information, go to www.arroyogrande.org/activities. *Most classes that have already begun can be prorated.*

NEEDLE ARTS In knitting, short rows can provide better fitting garments, unusual shapes, and blocks of color. In this class, several techniques and ways of using short rows will be explored. Class takes place Fridays from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

QUILTING with BARBARA PORTER Learn the art of quilting! Traditional and modern techniques will be taught. Work on class or individual projects. Beginners to advanced quilters are welcome. Classes take place Mondays or Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and cost $65 per session.

QUILTING with GERRY MCGUIRE A quilting class teaching designing, proper cutting, sewing, and handy shortcuts to make a quilt. Through demonstrations and a workshop atmosphere, you will construct a quilt. Beginners and seasoned quilters are welcome.

SERGER SEWING & EMBROIDERY MACHINE BASICS Learn to use your serger for much more than just finishing seams. Learn to make tension adjustments for the different stitches as well as when using decorative threads. Classes take place on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WRITING FROM LIFE Come and hone your writing skills while working on your life story, short stories, poetry, prose or journaling. Students may write creatively in any manner they choose, and are encouraged to let their ideas flow freely. Classes take place Wednesdays, from 2 - 4 p.m.

INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY This class is designed to provide basic information on digital cameras, their menus, exposure modes and metering modes. Students 15 years and older can learn the basic concepts of good photography including ISO, noise, white balance, resolution, compression, lighting, composition, and lines of direction. Class takes place on a designated Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
