YOUTH CLASSES FOR SUMMER 2017
The City of Arroyo Grande Recreation Services Department is offering a variety of classes for youth now through August 2017. For more specific class information, go to www.arroyogrande.org/activities. *Any classes that have already begun can be prorated.*
LEGO CAMPS An experienced Lego instructor will guide your child into the world of Lego! Jedi and Jedi Master Engineering Lego camps will take place August 7-11, from either 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. or 1 – 4 p.m. Class cost is $159 per week. Classes fill quickly, so sign up early!
PYJAMA DRAMA Let your imagination take you away this summer in a mini 3-week Pyjama Drama course. Children aged 6 months-7 years develop coordination, confidence, communication, and cooperation while having tons of fun! There are three mini-courses to choose from throughout the summer, and a sibling discount is available. Class costs vary by class and amount of classes attended.
CALIKIDS FITNESS This camp develops healthy minds and bodies with a program that focuses on the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children. Children aged 16 months to 6 years can have tons of fun as they build strength, balance, coordination, vestibular skills, agility and flexibility. Class cost is $56 for the 8 week session.
INTENSIVES with CROSSROADS LEARNING With 14 camps available throughout the summer, it’s the perfect opportunity to get your child the boost that they need. Writing, phonic sounds and letters, reading, and math intensives will all aid your child for the coming school year. Intensives take place from June through August, with varying dates and times.
AYSO/UK SOCCER CAMP AYSO training creates a very unique and dynamic program, which goes far beyond the soccer field. With mini, half-day, and full-day camps for ages 4 – 16 years, there’s sure to be a camp for everyone. Weekly camps are offered July 10-14 and July 31-August 4, 2017 at Soto Sports Complex.
TAHITIAN DANCE with LINDA WHITE Taught by native Tahitian Dancer, Linda White, young dancers will be introduced to and learn the basic moves of Tahitian Dance. Learn the meaning behind the movements and practice traditional dances along with music. Classes take place Mondays from 4:00 – 4:45 p.m. at the Woman's Club Community Center.
CHESS with DR. CHESS Come explore the game of chess with the experienced Dr. Chess! Your child will learn to practice the strategies and tactics necessary for success in the opening, middle game and end game. Classes take place Wednesdays, from 2 – 4 p.m. at Elm Community Center.
KIDZ LOVE SOCCER A typical session experience includes age appropriate activities such as skill demonstrations, fun games and instructional scrimmages. Classes take place Thursdays, and times vary for each class. This class is for children aged 2.5 – 12, and participants are divided into classes by age.
HAIRBRAIDING Learn new tips and creative techniques for braiding beautiful hair! Sign up with a partner (mom, dad or friend) and bring your favorite hair brush. Class will take place on July 26, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Paid partner is required.
BATON with ALEXIS BREWER Come join the fun and learn how to twirl a baton! Coach Alexis is the Cal Poly feature twirler with over 15 years of baton experience. Learning how to twirl the baton builds confidence, team work, coordination, leadership, determination, and healthy lifestyle habits. Class takes place Mondays in August.
SUMMER ART CLASSES with PEGGY VALKO Students will learn the basic design elements: line, texture, color, value, and composition, while having a fun and creative time. Participants will experience a variety of media including watercolor, paints, colored pencil, graphite and markers. Classes take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 – 3:30 p.m. Drop-in or weekly rates available.
