The Legislative and Information Services Department is dedicated to serving the City Council, City staff, and the citizens of Arroyo Grande by ensuring access to information and the legislative process; and by ensuring compliance with applicable State and local laws and regulations relating to municipal elections, open meetings, financial reporting and access to public records.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for managing the legislative history of the City and responsible for maintaining, disposing, and preserving official City documents and records in accordance with legal requirements.
Prepare City Council agenda packets;
Record the minutes of all City Council meetings.
Respondsto requests for information and researches legislative data for the public, staff, and City Council.
Direct the official publication of legal notices and display advertising.
Develop and administer the budget for the Department.
Conduct municipal elections including coordination of ballot measures, arguments, and impartial analysis.
Responsible for signing, sealing, notarizing, certifying, recording, and transmitting official City documents.
Oversee and manage the City's records management program.
Custodian of the City Seal.
Receive liability claims filed against the City.
Process all Statements of Economic Interests (Form 700s) and Campaign Statements required by the Political Reform Act of 1974, as amended.
Maintain and update the City's Conflict of Interest Code.
Maintain the City's website.
Maintain the City's government cable access channel (Community bulletin board).
Serve as Public Information Officer (PIO).
Codify and disseminate copies of the City's Municipal Code.
Coordinate publication and distribution of the City-wide Newsletter.
Update and distribute revisions to the Arroyo Grande Commissioner's Handbook.
Provide general supervision to the Information Technology Manager.
