Safety Tip: Protecting Antiques

Protect your art and antiques. Photographs of a stolen object greatly improve the chances of recovery. Photographs can be taken using any photographic format. It is best to take a variety of shots of each object. Do not be concerned with photographing the object from it's most photographic angle, instead concentrate on what makes this object unique or identifiable. If possible...
  • Indicate the object's size and dimensions by placing a ruler next to small items, or write down the measurement.
  • Show distinguishing marks, repair marks, hallmarks.
  • Show the back and front of paintings.
  • On many objects a flash is difficult to use as it may glare on shiny surfaces such as glass. Use good even natural daylight or bounced /diffused flash lighting if possible.
  • Try to use a plain neutral background in grey or white (avoid patterned wallpaper or carpet as a background).
  • Keep track of serial numbers and/or limited edition numbers.

Police Department

Welcome from Steven Annibali, Chief of Police

The members of the Arroyo Grande Police Department welcome you to our web site. We hope you find it interesting as well as informative.

The Arroyo Grande Police Department's approach to our community can easily be described as being built upon the philosophy of "Community Oriented Policing." This policing philosophy means that we strive to include all elements of our community in programs, decisions and methods which bring about the best in public safety. It supports a strong sense of community and it actively encourages cooperative efforts which incorporate the needs of all. The Community Oriented Policing approach means that we not only identify problems but, we then partner with the numerous community groups and resources which can eliminate or reduce problem issues. Today's reality is that the police cannot do it alone. We need, and enjoy, being partners with our community.

Further, this approach is only successful when it is embraced by all members of the department as individuals. Each member strives to create positive relationships, resolve issues and "be in service to others." Within the success of each individual member lies the success of our police department.

Finally, as a consequence of these community partnerships as well as individual efforts, crime is low, quality of life is outstanding and small issues are resolved before they become a significant community problem. And, most important to the members of the Arroyo Grande Police Department, is that trust is strongly rooted in our community's relationships with us. Simply put . . . our partnerships build the strong community foundation that enhances quality of life for all.

We believe that our department's motto: "Ensuring Quality of Life" says it all. Please feel free to call,or visit us, if you have any questions about the many services we offer.
