ARROYO GRANDE, CA - The Arroyo Grande Police Department can confirm our SWAT team member struck by gunfire in yesterday’s shooting was Sergeant Michael Smiley. Sergeant Smiley is a 16 year veteran of the department and 8 year veteran of the San Luis Obispo Regional SWAT Team where he is assigned as a Team Leader. Sergeant Smiley is home recovering with his family and the Arroyo Grande Police Department wishes him a full and healthy recovery.
