[ARCHIVED] Sewer Lining Project on Huasna Road/Oro Drive and Woodland Drive

On April 23, 2019, the City Council approved a contract with Sancon Technologies, Inc. for the Huasna Road/Oro Drive CMP and Woodland Drive Sewer Lining project (PW 2018-01). Sancon Technologies, Inc. and its subcontractors, Robotic Sewer Solutions, Inc. and D-Kal Engineering, Inc., under contract with the City of Arroyo Grande, will be performing cleaning, close circuit television inspections, and lining operations of certain corrugated metal pipe (CMP) storm drains and sanitary sewer mains within the City periodically during the months of May, June and July 2019. These locations include storm drains in front of properties or sewer lines in back of properties as shown on the location map.

The CMPs under both Oro Drive and Huasna Road show signs of deterioration which can cause erosion of the surrounding soil and can lead to the possible depression of asphalt or sidewalk and/or development of a sink hole. The sewer main that runs under the backyards of homes along Woodland Drive is at the end of its useful life and is experiencing root intrusion from surrounding trees and landscaping. Lining the existing pipes (essentially installing a pipe within a pipe) is the least costly and disruptive method of rehabilitation as it does not require excavation or trenching to install replacement piping

During construction there will be intermittent lane closures for safety purposes, but it is not anticipated that any roadway will be closed completely to vehicular traffic. The Contractor will place informational barricades on the streets advising of specific dates and locations of parking restrictions. Please note that although the barricade may state certain hours, the actual construction work may occur at any time within that range. Normal work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. In addition, the Contractor will hand deliver notices to each affected property 48 hours in advance of the work.

The storm drain and sewer main lining may cause temporary inconvenience because of the nature of the work. The City appreciates your patience during this period and will attempt to minimize the inconvenience. Please contact the Public Works Department at (805) 473-5460 if you have any special needs or concerns that should be taken into consideration during construction. If you have specific questions about the project, please call Jill McPeek, Capital Improvement Project Manager at (805) 473-5444. The City will also have a contract inspector on site to address concerns.
