[ARCHIVED] Water Disinfection Change and Water Main Flushing

ARROYO GRANDE, CA - From November 15, 2017 to December 6, 2017, the Lopez Water Treatment Plant will be switching the treatment process of water from combined chlorine to free chlorine. This process change helps to remove any deposits that may have built-up inside the pipeline over the year. This change may result in a harmless but stronger than normal chlorine taste and odor during the treatment period.

Coinciding with this event, City crews will also be flushing water mains which is usually completed twice per year but was delayed for over three years due to the drought. Although this flushing may appear wasteful, it is needed to help assure your drinking water continues to meet or exceed all State and Federal Water Quality requirements.  Flushing will begin on November 27, 2017 and be completed by December 1, 2017.
