Expansion of Evacuation Warning Area: North of the Levee (Oceano Area).

An Evacuation Warning has been issued for residents in the Oceano Area near the Arroyo Grande Creek Levee due to the incoming storms, potential flooding, or overtopping of the levee.  Residents are urged to be prepared to evacuate should the situation worsen.  Should an evacuation be necessary, an Evacuation Order will be issued.

Residents should prepare their families and pets.  Pack essential items such as clothes and medication for a few days.

Nevada Street temporary closure.

Reopened at 3:40pm with localized coned off area in the street.

After evaluation and video analysis no sinkhole conditions found. The cause was found to be shallow surface drainage underneath the asphalt causing structural pavement damages. The large volume of storm water drainage undermined sections of private property and went underground and under the street. Curbing of the drainage at 2 locations and filling and patching the asphalt will be done over the coming weeks.
