[ARCHIVED] Art Outside the Box: Your Art Can Transform the City!

AGPA Utility Box Painting

The City of Arroyo Grande and Arroyo Grande Public Art are implementing a public art program: Art Outside the Box. The Program will enhance and beautify the streetscape and display the artwork of local artists on what otherwise would be drab, unattractive utility boxes, by using non-traditional ways to add and share artistic creativity within the community. Art Outside the Box will elevate the aesthetics of the city, promote civic pride, increase pedestrian traffic and extend public art to new areas. The goal is to bring public art beauty to unexpected places such as utility boxes, creating an attractive environment and allowing art to be introduced to the public in a creative and inventive way.

This Call for Local Artists is seeking the first round of submittals to paint 4 different utility boxes in various locations within the City of Arroyo Grande. Individual artists and artist groups may submit up to 2 designs for painting up to 2 different utility boxes. The utility boxes that will be painted during this cycle are at the following locations:

E Branch/Mason, Oak Park/Grand, Brisco/El Camino Real, N Oak Park/James Way
